Nina Weymann

The starting point of my work is reportage photography. Here I received – as they say – the best university education in Europe in Hanover and Aarhus, Denmark. In this field, photography is a great excuse for me to discover the most diverse places and living environments – (And a stream of income by commissioned photography 🙂
I am also interested in photography in a social, cultural context – secretly always driven by doubts and questions about my own craft, I work on my own artistic projects. Here I question the mechanisms of media making – for example in my book „Searching for the Old Bearded Fisherman“. In my work „Chinatownvertical“, I process thoughts on the linguistic-cultural perspective on the world as captured in photography. For my master’s thesis at Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences, I focused on the technology and history of photography. The exhibition includes objects and experimental works on the camera as well as the chemical and technical process of the image – „Photography as imprint, trace, index“.
